When one person disappears and his searches do not lead to anything - only close and dear people keep his memory, and society quickly forgets about the incident. But in the event of the disappearance of a whole group of people, it immediately becomes clear - something terrible and, most likely, mystical happened.
The simultaneous disappearance of entire groups of people occurs throughout the history of mankind. Even today, one can hear about such cases. Of course, with the development of technology and satellite tracking, most of the mysterious disappearances can be uncovered. But at the moment, rumors and speculation about the most egregious cases are only multiplying.
1
Incident on Lake Angikuni (1930)
Late fall 1930, Canadian fur seeker Joe Labell was looking for suitable hiding spots when he came across an abandoned camp in Nunavut. The camp was located on the shores of Lake Angikuni and belonged to the Inuit. There were no people there, while the fire was still burning, and provisions burned in the bowlers.
Things in the huts were untouched, and none of the Eskimos took fish or other provisions. It's hard to believe, but the entire camp population simply disappeared, leaving all things, including weapons, food and clothing in their places.
Having reached the nearest point of contact, the hunter contacted the equestrian police of Canada, reporting his find. On the way to the place of investigation, the police detachment made a parking lot in the hunter's home Armand Laurent. Upon learning of the incident, a local resident said that he saw some kind of luminous flying ship, sailing in the direction of Lake Angikuni. Arriving at the camp, the investigators were convinced of the mystical component of the disappearance. In addition to things left untouched, Inuit graves were dug and their contents devastated. On two sides of the graves lay stones of bizarre shapes.
The investigation of the incident began twice, but until today it has not been possible to understand where the whole settlement disappeared.
2
Lost Roanoke colony (1587)
One of the first colonies formed by the British on the American continent was a settlement on Roanoke Island in North Carolina. Once, the governor of the colony John White, after returning from a business trip to the "mainland", was shocked - the colonists disappeared!
All that remained of the settlers living there was a skeleton hinting at a violent murder. The governor also saw Croatoan inscription carved in wood. This suggested that the massacre was committed, and the Croaton Indians, who lived south of the colony, were guilty. Perhaps one of the victims cut a word to indicate her killers.
Another version says that the population of the colony simply left without waiting for the return of the governor (because of the war in Europe, he was absent for about 3 years). If this version is true, then a sad fate awaited people - they died in the Atlantic, on the way home.
3
Maria Celeste (1872)
In 1872, the ship "Maria Celeste" sailed from the New World to Italian Genoa. He was found in December of that year in the waters of the Atlantic, about 700 kilometers from the Azores archipelago in an uncontrollable state, thrown by waves from side to side. The ship was completely deserted.
The original version of the pirate attack was rejected due to the intactness of the safety of all things, including merchandise and the property of the ship's crew. The most surprising was the fact of finding the ship's magazine. Even if the sailors quickly sailed from the ship, they had to take the “document” with them. The reason for the disappearance of the crew has not been established.
MK Jessup in the investigation of the incident claims that the "culprits" of the mystical incident were the aliens who had abducted people. According to his theory, the theft of people by aliens is the first case of such disappearances. Of course, the theory is in doubt.

Ore carrier “Cyclops” (1918)
Even taking into account the fact that the Cyclops American ore carrier transported goods to the European continent during the First World War, its loss can hardly be explained by military operations. Most likely, he was "lost" in the waters of the Bermuda Triangle, associated with the mystical disappearance of several aircraft and ships.
The Cyclops departed from one of the Brazilian ports in February 1918, appearing in the Barbados area on March 3 of the same year. After that, communication with the ship was lost, it simply evaporated along with all the people (about 300 people) on board.
None of the radars caught distress signals, at least the slightest signs of a ship's wreck, debris or stains from oil transported by the Cyclops were not found. To this day, the case has not been solved. Of the theories, besides the Bermuda Triangle, the ubiquitous aliens and sonic attack are blamed.
5
Village Hoer Verde (1923)
A detachment of travelers, traveling to one of the Brazilian cities, in the winter of 1923 witnessed a mystical incident. On the way, they came across the small village of Hoer Verde, whose population was just over 500 inhabitants. When the travelers entered the village, they were surprised at the dead silence. Not only were people absent there, but no sounds like buzzing insects or birds singing were completely absent. At the same time, all household items and food supplies remained untouched.
The police, who went to the place of disappearance, also did not find any signs of relocation and possible directions of the villagers. The only find was a gun, found a short distance from the village. Also, the police were excited by the message on the board of the local school. It read: “There is no salvation!”
Among the versions there are rumors about aliens and paranormal phenomena. There is also a political motive - at that time Brazil was engulfed in a civil war, so the locals might be afraid to fall under the fire of partisans. But even this seemingly logical theory cannot explain the fact of things left in the village. Moreover, possible immigrants had to find a new refuge, but no new residents appeared in nearby cities and villages.

Anasazi civilization (late 1200s)
One of the most developed civilizations in North America is rightfully considered the Anasazi people. They lived on the territory of the “four corners” (the border of the four American states) back in 1500 BC. e. All information about civilization, which built five-story houses with eight hundred separate rooms, breaks off at the end of the 13th century. The people just disappeared!
Some modern Indian tribes call the Anasazis their ancestors, passing on the word of mouth about them, claiming that they “returned home”. This leads to the theory of the extraterrestrial origin of civilization.
Adherents of this theory confirm their guesses with strange spiral-shaped marks found on the site of the ancient Anasazi settlements. Some suggest that this is a sign of the Sun, while others consider circles to be gates to another world through which the Anasazi “returned home”.
By the way, here you can learn a lot about the largest cities in the USA.
7
Harappan civilization (1500 BC)
The early Harappan or Indian civilization left behind a minimal number of traces, due to the rapid decline and disappearance. One reason is considered an alleged attack using nuclear weapons. Historians define the ruins of the cities of Harappa and Mohenjo-Daro as places of striking. These cities were the center of ancient civilization, which was not inferior in development to Mesopotamia and Ancient Egypt, and even surpassed them in its area.
After exploring the cities, scientists found sewer and drainage systems, a well-thought-out drinking water delivery system and even a brick bath. Human remains were found, the location of which spoke of the sudden death of people.
British scientist David Davenport specializes in the study of Indian civilization. Working in this area for many years, he found the remnants of traces of radiation and evidence of the impact on the city of extremely high temperatures. According to the scientist, this proves the deliberate destruction of civilization through a nuclear explosion.

Ghost Ship from Australia (2007)
The following story is connected with the disappearance of only three people, but it is included in the list due to the fact that the incident happened very recently, namely in 2007. Under frightening circumstances, people from the Australian catamaran Kaz II were “lost”.
The first catamaran was discovered by a helicopter crew: a ten-meter uncontrolled ship rocked on the waves off the coast of Queensland. Initial research showed that the catamaran was abandoned, there were minor injuries on the sail, although no signs of a fight were found.
The most mysterious circumstance was a table with cooked foods, which indicated an imminent dinner. In addition, the ship's engine was started, the laptop was turned on, which hinted at its recent use. Not a single lifejacket was touched, like all the property of sailors. The authorities have not figured out what affected the mysterious disappearance, but they persistently reject the version of the joke or the violent crime.

Yacht "Nina" (2013)
An old yacht called “Nina”, whose history totaled 85 years, in which the legendary victory in the regatta “New York - Spain” fits, simply evaporated in the summer of 2013. At that moment, the owner of the ship was David Diece, who was about to sail on a yacht to Newcastle Australia from New Zealand.
David with the crew hit the road in May 2013, but never showed up in Newcastle. When it became clear that the delay was not caused by worsening weather conditions, the New Zealand government ordered the launch of a search campaign, which is considered the largest search action at sea in the history of the island nation. Despite the scale of the search, “Nina” was never found, and is considered missing to this day.
An important clarification is the place where the yacht was lost - this is the popular “Basse Channel Triangle”, where, after the start of counting such cases, several cases of disappearance of ships occurred.

The Dahlssier Case (1965)
In the history of Sweden there was only one incident with the disappearance of a whole group of people, and it dates from July 29, 1965. Not far from Gothenburg, four men simply “evaporated”. Three friends Kjell Ake Johansson, Guy Karlsson and Jan Olof Dahlsyo worked in shipyards. They were last seen that summer morning on the way from the city to the Volvo in blue.
Perhaps the delay in the search by the police is due to different dates of treatment of relatives about the disappearance of young people. Only after the time of law enforcement officers tied together the disappearance of three men. As it turned out, none of them had rights, they were sometimes delayed for minor violations and carried a lot of cash with them. Although all acquaintances claimed that they were "great guys."
The fourth missing person was Habner Lundqvist, driving through Gothenburg on his way to Lisekil. He sent from there a postcard to his relatives with the caption, “Don’t worry, everything is fine.”
This was the latest news from Habner. Police officers suggest that he joined the three guys along the way. By chance whether their paths crossed, no one knows. The case has not been solved.
Summary
Over the years, mankind has found explanations for many unknown facts, now no one is confused by the period of harvest ripening, and people should not prove the shape of the Earth and that it revolves around the Sun, and not vice versa. Moreover, the development of science and technology has made it possible to explain many historical puzzles. However, some things, among which mass extinctions, still excite our imagination and make us hold our breath with admission that we are not omnipotent!
